Overview

As a first time simplesilver™ user, whether you have a new or existing hot tub, you will need to make sure it is clean. There are various reasons why your hot tub may not be clean - after factory testing - during shipping from the manufacturer or retailer - substandard maintenance.
Secondly, the correct amount of simplesilver™ minerals need to be released into the water to effectively balance the pH, alkalinity, total dissolved solids & limiting the formation of scale & corrosion - this takes time.

Step 1 - Installation Process

There is no need to drain the water in your hot tub unless you were previously using bromine

Simply place the simplesilver™ blue tablet anywhere in your hot tub water.
The tablet must be kept in the water for the 12 month duration.
If you have been using bromine "click here for more information"

Now go to Step 2

Note - If your hot tub has been empty for a period, we recommend completing our santising "Solution 2" process as there could still be dirty water within the system "click here for these printable instructions"

Step 2 - Filter Pump Set-up

A - You need to set your filter circulation pump timer to operate daily

To set this up "click here to see our Controller Settings"

Remember:
- Turn the filter pump onto automatic mode
- Turn off the sleep timer
- Turn off holiday mode
- Turn off energy-saving mode
- Make sure to open all jet heads & water features

Note - It is critical that the filter circulation pump is set correctly to circulate 26,500 gallons of water per day.
This ensures that the correct amount of simplesilver™ minerals are released automatically into the water at a constant & controlled rate to balance it.

B - Once the filter pump timer has been set, do not use your hot tub for the next 7 days

It takes time for the correct amount of simplesilver™ minerals to be released into the water at a constant & controlled rate to effectively balance the pH, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, scale & corrosion.

C - At the end of the 7 day period

Clean the filters using a filter cleaning solution - as water alone is ineffective.
Dry the filters before re-installing - this makes the filters more effective as the fibres expand - it will also stop the water foaming.

Note - If you use the hot tub before this 7 day period, there will not be sufficient simplesilver™ minerals in the water to effectively balance the waters pH, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, scale & corrosion.

Now go to Step 3

Step 3 - Use the Hot Tub

After Day 7

You have now cleaned your filters using a filter santising solution.
As a reference, your hot tub water "Should Always Look Like This" when using simplesilver™.
If so, enjoy your hot tub.

Note - If your hot tub water is not crystal-clear or if it has an odour, things are not right. For help "click here to see our Troubleshooting section"

To comply with local & government guidelines, a small amount of chlorine must be added after use to control the bacterial levels.
Generally, about a teaspoon of chlorine is needed for a standard size hot tub - 0.2 oz per 265 gals of water.
However, the amount of chlorine to be added will depend on - bather loading - usage - amount of water in the hot tub.
Please follow the chlorine manufacturers instructions for use.
Bromine can't be used.

Then

Follow the Filter Maintenance instructions below at least every two weeks to ensure pristine water.

Note - If the filters become 50% blocked, then during the filter cycle, only 50% of the water will circulate. Therefore only 50% of the simplesilver™ minerals will be released, therefore 50% effective.

Filter Maintenance

Regular Filter Cleaning

At least every two weeks clean your filters using a filter sanitising solution.
Water alone is ineffective in cleaning the filters as it cannot breakdown any skin, perspiration, oils, lotions, hair, water salts, dust, dirt & other foreign matter.
While the filters are removed, with a cloth & container of water (to rinse the cloth), wipe the insides of the filter cavity & housing area.
This area is commonly overlooked & can be a cause of unpleasant odours & slippery feeling sides.
Make sure the filters are dry before reintroducing these as the filter fibres will expand making these more effective.
Dry filters also stops the water from foaming.

Note - Your filters are an integral part of the water maintenance process & have a finite life of 12 months.
At this point, they will block up & no longer be effective or able to be cleaned - this will turn the water cloudy.

Repeat User

Installation & Best Practice

Since you have already been using simplesilver™, all you have to do is put the new simplesilver™ tablet into the water.
However, prior to installing your new simplesilver™ tablet, we recommend that the water should be changed & the hot tub cleaned.
Once you have refilled the hot tub & installed the new simplesilver™ tablet, it will take 5 days for the correct amount of simplesilver™ minerals to be released into the water to effectively balance the pH, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, scale & corrosion.
To comply with local & government guidelines, a small amount of chlorine must be added after use to control the bacterial levels.
Generally, about a teaspoon of chlorine is needed for a standard size hot tub - 5 grams per 1000 litres of water.
However, the amount of chlorine to be added will depend on - bather loading - usage - amount of water in the hot tub.
Please follow the chlorine manufacturers instructions for use.

Note - If you use the hot tub before this 5 day period, there will not be sufficient simplesilver™ minerals in the water to effectively balance the waters pH, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, scale & corrosion.

Then

Follow the Filter Maintenance instructions above at least every two weeks to ensure pristine water.
